Style Notes
This blue Babylon Cedar suzani cushion is inspired by the Hanging Gardens of Babylon. A mysterious wonder, whose existence is often disputed by historians. It is often said to be built by Nebuchadnezzar to cheer up his homesick wife, Amytis. For Babylon, a city that rarely received rain, a garden of such height and splendour meant that the water had to be carried from the nearby Euphrates River. Not only was building such a garden in that time was immense effort, sustaining it required extra care. The flowers, leaves and the water of the gardens are reflected on the cushions in this collection.
