The Hagia Sophia, whose name means “holy wisdom” was built in AD 537. In its 1,400 year life-span it has served as a cathedral, mosque and now a museum. It is the perfect monument of the city tying the east and the west.  The mixture of red, green and blue as well as the eastern flowers of the embroidered suzani cushions reflect the mixture of cultures coming together beautifully, just like in the Hagia Sophia.
