This suzani cushion collection was inspired by the Mausoleum Halicarnassus, which was a tomb built for Mausolus, a satrap in the Persian empire. The tomb was 45m in height and the four sides decorated with sculptural reliefs. It was such an aesthetic triumph that even today, buildings such as the Los Angeles City Hall, House of the Temple in Washington D.C. and the National Diet in Tokyo are inspired by the architecture of the tomb. Our suzani cushions reflect the knowledge passed down from the past to the present. This wonder has inspired these cushions paisley patterns, a pattern originating from the Persian empire.
